Temporary Noise Barrier Wall

Construction site noise are generated by equipment such as piling, hacking, drilling punching and excavation machine. In city or towns such development may cause discomfort to residents of neighboring property. Contractors may propose installation of temporary metal noise barriers to mitigate such noise pollution.

NOISESORB Temporary Noise Barrier Walls are designed for easy installation and mobility. The wall height and length can be customized to suit the site conditions. Each panel is light weight and slide into a track attached to tubular frames such as scaffolding or other independent steel frames. The front face with louvers will face the construction site for noise absorption.

Noise Blankets and Noise Absorbers

Noise blankets are hung from walls like a curtain, or fixed to floor mounted steel frames to shield or enclose equipment or machines that generate unwanted noise. It is also frequently referred to as acoustic blanket or sound blanket. It is manufactured from synthetic mesh fabric. NOISESORB Noise Blanket is water resistant, ultraviolet (UV) resistant, light weight, and SIRIM Tested for noise reduction.

There are two types of noise blankets. The first type is the noise barrier blanket, which is a noise blocker with higher transmission loss. The other type is a noise absorber with higher noise absorption ability. Both of these noise blankets are manufactured from different fabric with similar acoustic insulation. The use of either one of these noise blankets will depend on the situation and requirements.

Metal Acoustic Noise Barrier Walls

Metal Noise Barriers are the common type of noise barrier found along the edges of Malaysian highways,  and railways. These noise barrier walls are built along the edge of expressways such as NSE, ELITE, KESAS, DUKE, SKVE, SPRINT, BESRAYA, MRT and LRT. As traffic increases along roads in the city, highways and expressways, noise pollution also worsens, due to noises such as the engine noises of cars, as well as the screecing noises of tires  from heavy vehicles rubbing the ground. Vehicles noises also intensify when buses and trucks ascent slopes or accelerate as they overtake other vehcles. JKR, LLM and DBKL have initiated many stretches of noise barrier walls bordering residential developments and sensitive areas with schools, hospitals and offices for better environment and working conditions.

NOISESORB Metal Acoustic Noise Barrier Walls are laboratory tested by SIRIM for transmission loss and noise reduction coefficient. The construction of this noise barrier wall product is robust and durable. Noisesorb has constructed metal noise walls for various projects since 2005.

Masonry Noise Barrier Walls (Masonry Hollow Blocks)

Masonry Noise Barrier Walls, also known as Masonry Hollow Blocks, is another type of noise barrier and is widely used in industrial area, residential areas, and areas around schools. It is also a popular option for socially responsible developers who want to offer their home buyers better privacy or protection from traffic noise.

The masonry wall consists of acoustic blocks. Each acoustic hollow block comprises two acoustic chamber to absorb noise.  These concrete hollow blocks are made from clean sand and quarry dust mixed with controlled quantity of cement and water. This relatively dry mix is then fed into a mechanical vibrator and press machine to form into the respective shapes. These moulded Hollow Blocks are then cured either in open outdoor store or in a curing room before stacking into wooden pallets, ready for dispatch to site.

Hollow block  walls are constructed on strip footings with vertical columns typically spaced at center to center of 3 meters. Hollow blocks are usually natural grey in color but different shades of colors can also be incorporated for architectural purposes.

The construction of a masonry wall starts with excavation of a trench after confirmation of the starting, end points and alignment of the noise barrier wall. The timber forms were constructed and reinforcement laid before concreting. Laying of the Acoustic Hollow Blocks commenced immediately upon proper curing process of the reinforced concrete strip footing.

Combination Type Noise Barrier Walls

Highway Noise Barrier Walls can be constructed from other materials such as concrete or acrylic sheets. A metal noise barrier can be mounted on top of an existing mansory noise barrier wall to create this combination noise barrier wall. This combination of noise barrier panels and masonry wall could be made to reduce different levels of noise at different heights.
